How to Verify WhatsApp Without Using Your Personal Number
WhatsApp requires a phone number — there's no email-only signup. But nothing says it has to be your number. Whether you want a second account for work, a business line, or just prefer keeping your real number private, a temporary number gets you verified in a couple of minutes.
The quick version
- Open the service grid and search for WhatsApp.
- Pick a number country — "Best available" usually has the highest delivery rate.
- Pay from your balance (top up by card, Mobile Money, or crypto if it's empty).
- Enter the number in WhatsApp when it asks, country code included.
- The verification SMS lands on your Micro OTP order page — copy the code into WhatsApp and you're in.
Tips that actually matter
Pick "Best available" unless you need a specific country. Delivery rates differ per country and change daily; the default pick routes to whichever route is succeeding right now.
Be ready before you request the code. Numbers expire after a few minutes. Have WhatsApp installed and the number field ready before you hit send — you want to enter the number and request the SMS in one smooth sequence.
Wait for the SMS first; only fall back to the call option if nothing arrives. WhatsApp offers "Call me" after the SMS timer runs out, but the SMS path is more reliable with temporary numbers.
If a number gets rejected, just take another. Occasionally WhatsApp refuses a number outright ("not a valid number for this country" or silent failure). Numbers are recycled across the market, so this happens. Cancel — the charge refunds automatically — and retry with a different number or country.
Set it up properly afterwards
The number expires minutes after verification, which means two things:
- Turn on two-step verification (Settings → Account → Two-step verification) with a PIN and recovery email. This is how you'll get back in on a new device — the phone number won't be there to help you.
- Don't use it for WhatsApp Business recovery-critical flows unless you've secured that PIN. The account is yours, but the number is gone.
Is this allowed?
Buying a temporary number and verifying an account with it is legal in most places. What isn't covered: using it to evade a ban, run spam, or break the law. WhatsApp's own terms restrict some uses of virtual numbers — read their rules, use the account normally, and you'll be fine.
What it costs
A WhatsApp number on Micro OTP typically costs well under a dollar depending on country — the price is shown before you pay. And the rule stays simple: no code, no charge. If the SMS never arrives, the order refunds itself.
